My Brief Bio
It all began with a crazy desire to be a food writer that led to a masters in journalism and then to real deal restaurant work – from working in Emeril’s culinary department in New Orleans to founding my own restaurant, The Glass Onion, in Charleston. But ultimately wine stole my heart with its infinite intricacies. Over the past ten plus years I have immersed myself in that world – achieving the Certified Sommelier certification through the Court of Master Sommeliers and level three through the Wine & Spirits Education Trust; traveling to wine regions in France, Germany, and California; and even getting my hands dirty during harvest in Oregon. I have spearheaded several wine programs in Charleston – most notably at Edmund’s Oast Restaurant and Edmund’s Oast Exchange. Now I offer wine classes and wine club via Wine & Company, a bottle shop/wine bar in downtown Charleston and occasionally at Philosophers & Fools (a wine bar/bookstore). And I write about wine and food on my Substack newsletter: Grape to Table.
