Yes, our upcoming wine dinner at Edmund’s Oast on Sunday, April 30th, with acclaimed wine journalist Jon Bonné just might qualify as a desert island experience for me! You know that old game – what would you drink, eat, and do if trapped on a deserted island? Well, can I just answer with – THIS wine dinner!!

The dinner is in celebration of Jon’s newly published two book/boxed set: The New French Wine and will feature a full lineup of his top French wine picks (see below) paired with a four course “family style dinner” prepared by our chef Bob Cook. Each ticket is $275 and includes a copy of The New French Wine, which already has found a home on my coffee table!

If you are unfamiliar with Jon, he is one of the nicest guys around and a true wine journalist. He won two James Beard awards for his work as a columnist and editor at the San Francisco chronicle (2006 to 2015). While there he wrote his first book – The New California Wine – that detailed the shift in the California wine industry away from big wines and big money and towards a more old world, terroir focused mentality. In 2017 his second book The New Wine Rules debunked wine myths and proved the perfect pocket guide for anyone starting off on their wine journey

And now after MANY years of work and much anticipation by all us wine nerds we have The New French Wine featuring 800 producers and more than 7,000 wines!! The first volume gives a narrative of each French wine region; while the second volume gives an exhaustive look at key producers and their wines. It’s a two volume TOME, with its own lovely case!

We are so honored that Jon is kicking off his southeastern book tour with a stop in Charleston and a dinner with Edmund’s Oast! We worked together to pick out some of his favorite wines to allow him to share his insight into French wine culture that has stood the test of time AND evolved!

The dinner will be held in “The Library”, the private dining room at Edmund’s Oast restaurant. Tickets are $275, all inclusive. Seating is extremely limited. As always we give our wine club members first dibs on tickets, so only a few remain!

Tickets are available by clicking here. Please email me – sarah@edmundsoast.com – if you are a couple looking for 2 tickets but only one book, which is of course understandable!

We do have all of Jon’s books in stock to purchase at The Exchange at Edmund's Oast!
